37806 (2024). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for the Environment: Does the Minister for the Environment retain and/or exercise ministerial responsibility for the National Policy Statement on Freshwater Management?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I retain a range of statutory functions under the Resource Management Act 1991 related to the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management. Hon Chris Bishop, as the Minister Responsible for RMA Reform, has responsibility for the strategic direction for freshwater policy, the environmental management system, as well as RMA Reform legislation. Hon Andrew Hoggard, as Associate Minister for the Environment, has responsibility for the National Policy Statement - Freshwater Management.
