37787 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Defence: How were the potential impacts on the educational and professional development opportunities for NZDF personnel considered in the decision-making process to cut funding for the Voluntary Education Study Assistance (VESA) scheme?

Hon Judith Collins: I am advised that the Voluntary Education Study Assistance (VESA) funding is provided at a reduced rate per person. It forms part of the wider education assistance and training provided by the New Zealand Defence Force by supporting voluntary additional part-time study beyond trade and career requirements.
