37712 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Education: How many (if any) school bus services run by the Ministry of Education have been or will be cut in the Canterbury region; what schools are served by those buses?

Hon Erica Stanford: I have been advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that in the last two years, three Ministry-funded daily bus routes have been terminated, impacting Belfast school, Waipara School and Te Aratai College (previously Linwood College). Waipara School and Te Aratai College were terminated under the previous Government in 2022. Belfast School will be terminated from 5 July 2024. Nine other Ministry-funded daily bus routes have been identified for future review to reassess requirements alongside the availability of public transport. These reviews have not yet been scheduled.
