37699 (2026). Mike Davidson to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Was FENZ Deputy National Commander Megan Stiffler correct in stating that it took eight minutes for Volunteer crews to attend the recent house fire in Caversham?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency New Zealand that the reference to "eight minutes" is the drive time from station to the incident. The PR in which this is stated also refers to "five minutes" in regard to the paid crews drive time from the station. The time from when FENZ was alerted to arrival to the incident for the volunteer crews was 12 minutes 32 seconds as referenced in WPQ37697 (2026) and the time from alert to arrival at the incident for the paid crew was 25 minutes.
