37669 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many, if any, young people are currently waiting for transitional housing, disaggregated by ethnicity?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by my officials that the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) do not operate a transitional housing waitlist. Rather, when people approach MSD with an immediate high housing need, MSD will endeavour to ensure they have a safe place to stay. This may include providing financial support to meet the cost of rent or board, referral to transitional housing providers, or in the absence of other options an Emergency Housing Special Needs Grant to meet the cost of short-term commercial accommodation.
