Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 on the proposed action ‘scope priority projects to reduce occupied bed days in the Districts with the greatest opportunities for improvement’ under ‘Strategic Priority Area 5: Driving operational improvement’ within Te Whatu Ora’s ‘Acute Care Plan 2024’?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter Hospital and Specialist Services identified inpatient length of stay >7 days as one of the contributors to reduced hospital flow. I am further advised that a programme of work has been developed that focuses on complex discharges.
