37578 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 toward the recommendation ‘Develop a comprehensive, coordinated population-based approach to all cancer screening services in Aotearoa New Zealand’ in Te Whatu Ora’s ‘BreastScreen Aotearoa Quality Improvement Action Plan’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in May, Health New Zealand met with organisations working across the Waikato, Lakes, and Bay of Plenty regions who have an interest in improving access to breast screening for wāhine Māori and Pacific women. This was as an opportunity for organisations to build and strengthen connections, share insights, discuss challenges, develop opportunities to improve the breast screening pathway; and to learn about work underway to improve breast screening rates for underscreened wāhine.
