37509 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last three months to 10 June 2024 to expand existing Māori nursing and midwifery clinical leadership pathways to grow our next generation of Māori clinical leaders?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in the last three months to 10 June, 89 people graduated the Māori Nursing and Midwifery Leadership Programme: Ngā Manukura o Āpōpō from cohorts provided in Cambridge, Whakatāne and in Christchurch, with two more people due to graduate before 30 June. Other training opportunities offered in the last three months to 10 June, include a series of graduate leadership wānanga, provided face to face or online. I am further advised that in the last three months to 10 June, 196 Māori nurses and midwives have attended one or more of the 19 training opportunities, with five more training sessions planned between 12 - 30 June.
