37428 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Associate Minister of Housing: What are the "current service levels" referred to in the Budget 24 Summary of Initiatives in relation to Rangatahi Youth Transitional Housing, by service provision level compared to demand level?

Hon Tama Potaka: The “current service level” for Rangatahi/Youth Transitional Housing referred to in the Budget 2024 Summary of Initiatives is the number of places contracted through transitional housing providers and available for use. As the Summary indicates, the funding that is being returned was not allocated to a contract and so has no impact on current service delivery. There are currently 229 active rangatahi/youth transitional housing places. I am advised that we cannot compare this figure to demand for this service as the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development does not gather this information.
