37420 (2025). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Justice: Is the current practice for Māori applicants to be placed on the general roll by default when they do not indicate a roll preference
Hon Paul Goldsmith: No, as long as the applicant identifies themselves as being of Māori descent at the time of application. A person who identifies as Māori on either the online or paper-based enrolment form has to also select the roll they wish to enrol on. For further information, I refer the member to reply 37419 (2025).
