37408 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Regarding the Ministerial statement to the House on July 22 that the pending ICJ genocide case against Israel “still doesn't obligate the rest of us needing to be considering the merit or otherwise of such a claim and to see whether it is substantial or not”, when does the Minister expect New Zealand to adopt a position on whether the genocide claim is substantial or not?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: The case is at an early stage and is likely to take several years. It would be inappropriate for New Zealand to pre-judge the Court's decisions.
