37401 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Will the Minister ask Cabinet to intervene if banks do not establish a voluntary reimbursement scheme for victims of authorized payment scams?

Hon Andrew Bayly: As discussed in my open letter to the banking sector published on 29 February 2024, I have asked banks to investigate a voluntary reimbursement scheme for victims of authorized payment schemes. I have given them until the end of September this year to respond, and will then consider next steps.
