37080 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Transport: How much of the '$786 million of taxpayers’ money on road cones and temporary traffic management (TTM)' was spent by NZTA or their contractors specifically on hiring or purchasing road cones?
Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised by the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) that the costs of road cones are not itemised.
NZTA, like other Road Controlling Authorities (RCAs), purchases temporary traffic management (TTM) as a complete service from planning, approvals and operations. That is, the contractors purchase or hire all necessary equipment including any road cones required for the work they have been contracted to do.
