37016 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction

37016 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: As Building and Construction Minister, would he support an apprenticeship guarantee for young people who want to enter the construction industry but cannot find an employer?

Hon Simon Watts: I have not considered this, as it would be a matter for the responsible Minister. I am focused on measures that strengthen the whole construction sector and make trades more attractive as careers, with pathways into work. This includes reforms to create a stronger, more consistent pipeline of work and lift productivity so the industry can offer better opportunities. These steps will encourage more young people to enter roles across the trades, including electrical.
