37005 (2024). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has the Minister considered increasing New Zealand funding for the UNRWA given the humanitarian crisis in Gaza?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The New Zealand Government is committed to supporting the response and has provided NZ$22 million in funding to address urgent humanitarian needs. This funding has supported the responses of the World Food Programme, International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the United Nations 2720 Mechanism for Gaza. These partners were chosen due to their demonstrated ability to work at scale in complex settings, and their ability to respond to a range of priority needs, including food insecurity, healthcare and protection.
