37002 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Was the redesign of New Zealand passports to have English words before Te Reo words in response to the National / New Zealand First coalition agreement to that public service departments had their primary name in English and be required to communicate "primarily in English" except for entities specifically related to Māori?
Hon Brooke van Velden: The redesign of the passport to put English first is being done as part of a scheduled passport security upgrade. English will go first because it is the language most widely spoken and understood by New Zealanders.
