However, as part of its core role of procuring major Defence capabilities, the Ministry of Defence engages with a range of industry providers. This can include market engagement for both specific projects and ongoing industry engagement, as well as the delivery of projects where suppliers are contracted. The Defence Force interacts with industry suppliers on a regular basis, including for the provision of parts and services. Most recently, following the release of the 2025 Defence Capability Plan, Defence officials held a series of engagements with industry leaders to discuss the indicative investments and pathways for working together more effectively – involving 280 attendees from 174 companies
