36273 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: As at July 2025, has the Government adopted a strategy to eliminate cervical cancer?

Hon Simeon Brown: I'm focussed on achieving better cancer outcomes for New Zealanders, and New Zealand has adopted the World Health Organization’s global strategy to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer. This includes agreeing to implement its recommended interventions, adapted for New Zealand's national context and priorities. The development of a cervical cancer elimination plan for New Zealand is being led by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the Cancer Control Agency.
