36267 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Have any winter energy payments been mistakenly cancelled for people entitled to them and receiving them; if so, how many people has this occurred to?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised that between 1 May and 7 August 2026, 14,862 New Zealand Superannuation and Veteran’s Pension clients had their Winter Energy Payments affected. All affected payments have now been resumed and backdated if appropriate. I refer the member to my response to Written Parliamentary Question 36266 (2026) for why this occurred.
