36183 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Immigration: What monitoring or follow-up is undertaken to assess the health of Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme workers after arrival in New Zealand, and has this changed in the last three years?

Hon Erica Stanford: Once RSE workers are in New Zealand, the responsibility to ensure the healthcare of RSE workers lies with the employer that they are working for. However, applicants must provide evidence of holding, or approval for, acceptable medical insurance at the time they apply for their visa. Employers assist the RSE worker to liaise with their health insurer, if and when necessary. Some employers also work with local Primary Health Organisations to support RSE worker health. These processes have not changed during the last three years.
