36178 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Associate Minister of Education: Was the decision to issue a new school lunch tender made in line with, or in opposition to, official advice?

Hon David Seymour: On 12 June 2025, the Ministry of Education provided me with the report, Ka Ora, Ka Ako Healthy School Lunches: 2026 Procurement Options, containing three proposed options to support contributing primary schools transfer to the alternative provision model. In line with this advice, I agreed to the option to run a procurement process, at $3 per lunch, for a one-year contract. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 36182 (2025).
