36173 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Associate Minister of Education: What reasons, if any, were provided to allow a new school lunch tender; expressed as a list?
Hon David Seymour: Contributing primary schools were explicitly out of scope from the 2025/2026 School Lunch Collective (SLC) Services Agreement. Similarly, current suppliers to contributing primary schools entered a fixed one-year term without any contractual right of renewal option. For these reasons, a new procurement would be required to identify supplier/s to deliver school lunches to contributing primary schools under the alternative provision model for 2026. Under government procurement rules, an openly advertised procurement process is the default process for tenders of this value.
