36164 (2025). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Housing: What is the average wait time Kāinga Ora takes to respond to maintenance complaints?
Hon Tama Potaka: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it records maintenance response times for three types of maintenance: General, Urgent Responsive, and Urgent Health and Safety.
General maintenance includes day-to-day repairs, such as wall linings or an internal door not closing properly, while Urgent Responsive includes maintenance that needs to be responded to urgently, such as water leaks and trip hazards. Urgent Health and Safety is when a quick response is required, such as electrical supply issues or wastewater drainage issues.
During the 2024/25 financial year, General Maintenance was responded to, on average, within 2.02 days, Urgent Responsive within 10.08 hours, and Urgent Health and Safety within 1.93 hours.
