36144 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Racing: Has DIA received any legal or regulatory advice indicating that banning greyhound racing could trigger compensation obligations under the current or future regulatory framework, such as that proposed in the Regulatory Standards Bill?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: Cabinet has yet to make detailed policy decisions on how the closure of the greyhound racing industry might occur. These decisions will be informed by the advice of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Greyhound Racing. Announcements will be made once decisions are taken. No work has been undertaken assessing potential policy proposals against the provisions of the Regulatory Standards Bill, which is still before the House.
