Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that for the current financial year ending 30 June 2026 Kāinga Ora is exploring options to sell just over 200 homes in suburbs across the Christchurch City Territorial Local Authority. However, it is important to note that a home being considered for sale is not a guarantee it will be sold. Kāinga Ora takes time to investigate the potential sale of a property and can decide not to sell a property if retaining it is deemed more appropriate. For the privacy of its tenants, it does not publish the addresses of tenanted properties being considered for sale. In cases where a sale does proceed, this allows time to notify tenants and support them to move to another Kāinga Ora home, carefully considering their needs in matching them to a home and community.
