36118 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Transport: Does the Minister think that the Government has a responsibility to demonstrate leadership, alongside the Queenstown Lakes District Council Mayor John Glover, in addressing Queenstown Lakes District transport challenges; if not, why not?

Hon Chris Bishop: Yes, the Government has a leadership role alongside Queenstown Lakes District Council and Otago Regional Council. The City and Regional Deal that the Government has been negotiating for the Otago Central Lakes region is a key example of the Government partnering with local government to address shared infrastructure, housing and transport challenges in the Queenstown Lakes District.
