35923 (2025). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: How much coal did Genesis Energy use over the most recent quarter for electricity generation, and how does this compare to the total stockpile held?

Hon Simon Watts: Genesis’s latest Performance Report indicates they used 4.81 petajoules, approximately 230 kilotons, of coal for electricity generation in the last quarter (April-June 2025). The stockpile, as reported to the Electricity Authority, was 447 kilotons around the start of that quarter (6th April) and 642 kilotons towards the end (22nd June 2025).
