35751 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What is the total book value of land held by the New Zealand Transport Agency that was acquired under the Public Works Act 1981 and on which construction has not commenced, and what were the total holding costs of that land, including rates, insurance, maintenance and property management net of rental income, in the last financial year?
Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the total book value of property holdings as at 30 June 2026 was $2.3B. Of which, $1B is held for projects not yet in construction.
The total holding costs for the entire portfolio over 2025/26 was $17.8M, offset by $27.4M revenue earned.
