35589 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Economic Growth: How many vacancies, if any, were advertised by the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, from January to June 2025, and how many total applicants, if any, were received for those vacancies?
Hon Nicola Willis: I am advised that the information requested for Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment can only be extracted back to 2022. I am advised that the data shows requisitions rather than vacancies, whether or not they were advertised. Reasons why a requisition may not be advertised includes that it is a requisition raised as part of an Expression of Interest process, it is a contractor placement, it is for a role less than six months long, or it was raised by mistake. With regard to New Zealand Growth Capital Partners (NZGCP), I am advised that the table provided shows total vacancies advertised, applicants received (where the roles were advertised by NZGCP) and number of roles where a recruitment agency was used. I am also advised that when positions are advertised through an agency, NZGCP are provided with a short list of candidates and cannot report on how many applications were made for those positions. Please see the attached document for the tables containing the answers for both MBIE and NZGCP. Please note that this answer also answers Written Parliamentary Questions 35638, 35685, 35688, 35756 and 35816.
