Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Further to reply 33604 (2026), did the voting instructions issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the resolution to reappoint Volker Türk as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights instruct New Zealand's representative to vote in favour, to vote against, or to abstain?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: In favour. The decision to abstain was taken by MFAT officials in Wellington in discussion with officials at the Permanent Mission in New York on 25 July.
