Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Conservation: How many vacancies, if any, were advertised by the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, from January to June 2025, and how many total applicants, if any, were received for those vacancies?

Hon Tama Potaka: I refer the member to my answer in the attached table, containing the Department of Conservation’s total number of vacancies and applicants. This is broken down by year from 2020 to 2025 and between January to June. I am advised that numbers for 2020-2024 inclusive include vacancies that were advertised and those that were filled via direct appointment, because the Department’s recruitment software did not separate these categories until improvements were made to it for the 2025 year. The 2025 numbers include only those that were advertised. I am further advised that these numbers do not include contractors or volunteer staff.
