Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Were any Ministers other than himself notified that the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand had lodged representations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on 30 July 2026 concerning remarks made in the New Zealand Parliament; if so, which Ministers and on what dates?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The Chinese Government itself put out a public statement about these representations on 30 July 2026, and my office also put out a statement about it. It was therefore not necessary to form a judgment about whether other Ministers should be notified.
