35337 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How long, if at all, will schools have to trial and use the new curriculums before they comes into force; listed for each of the new curriculums?
Hon Erica Stanford: Draft curriculum for Te Reo Rangatira Years 7-13, Mathematics and Statistics Years 9-13, and Pāngarau Years 9-13 were made available to schools in January 2025. A draft of the curriculum for English Years 7-13 was made available in March 2025. Final curriculum for English, and Te Reo Rangatira Years 7-13, along with mathematics, statistics and Pāngarau Years 9-13, are planned to be available to schools and kura at the start of Term 4, 2025. These curricula will become required teaching from the beginning of 2026. The draft of the remaining learning areas and wāhanga ako will also be released to the sector at the start of Term 4, 2025. These will be finalised in mid-2026, with implementation planned to be required from the beginning of 2027. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 35338 (2025).
