35329 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What impact reporting, if any, has been completed on the maths year 0-8 PLD (professional learning and development)?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Education collects feedback on the Maths professional learning development (PLD) from five anonymised surveys. One survey is conducted before participation in the PLD, and then one survey is conducted following each of the four professional learning days. This approach allows the Ministry to track teachers' progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed. An analysis of 3,036 survey responses from the first professional learning day was done in March 2025 to assess the short-term effectiveness. This analysis showed that more than 80% of educators report a stronger understanding of the curriculum structure and the importance of year-level teaching. Over 70% believe the refreshed curriculum will enhance student outcomes.
