35328 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How many teachers, if any, have participated in the structured literacy approaches PLD (professional learning and development)?

Hon Erica Stanford: Foundational Structured Literacy Approaches (SLA) professional learning and development (PLD) started in Term 3, 2024. Since then, four cohorts of this PLD have been undertaken. In total, 14,158 teachers have participated across both English and Māori medium settings. 977 Kaiako have taken part in Rangaranga Reo ā Tā (RRāTā) PLD (SLA for Maori Medium) and 13,181 teachers have participated in SLA PLD (English medium).
