35327 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What is the status of the new assessment tools to assess reading, writing and maths at year 8?

Hon Erica Stanford: Following a competitive tender process, the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) has selected Janison Solutions Pty Ltd as the preferred supplier to deliver our new Assessment and Aromatawai Tool for students in Years 3-10. The next step is for the Ministry to work with Janison to complete the development of curriculum aligned assessment items. Training and implementation activities will become available in Term 4, 2025. The Tool will be available for schools and kura to use from the beginning of 2026
