35301 (2026). Vanushi Walters to the Prime Minister

35301 (2026). Vanushi Walters to the Prime Minister: Has he made any statement, in any capacity, apologising to Chinese New Zealanders in respect of the remarks made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the New Zealand Parliament on 29 July 2026; if so, on what date and in what terms?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: On 3 August I stated that Lawrence Xu-Nan is as much a Kiwi as Winston Peters and that our Chinese community has made a huge contribution to New Zealand. The comments are racist and offensive, as I've said many times.
