35272 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What are the standards, if any, for staffing ratios in Oranga Tamariki youth justice facilities?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised there is no set standard staff to young people ratios used by Oranga Tamariki within its Youth Justice Residences. I am further advised staff to young people ratios are determined by the operational needs of each residence and the needs of individual young people, which can vary daily.
