35141 (2026). Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs

35141 (2026). Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has he, or any official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, met with representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China since 29 July 2026, when he made public comments about China and Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan; if so, on what dates, at what level, and at whose request?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: I refer to the conversation noted in question 35140. Since that date, I am advised that an official at MFAT has taken a meeting with the Chinese Embassy at Political Counsellor-level on 4 August, at the Embassy’s request, on an unrelated matter. Refer to the response to WPQ 35122 (2026).
