35111 (2025). Hon Damien O'Connor to the Minister of Education: What specific data, if any, did the Minister rely on to show that schools will be able to meet the literacy needs of their most vulnerable students after the disestablishment of the Resource Teachers of Literacy service?
Hon Erica Stanford: The Budget 25 education package has a focus on transforming learning supports to lift student achievement and attendance. It invests $645.8 million of operating funding and $100.9 million of capital funding. This funding will enable teachers and specialists to identify learning support needs early in a child’s life, and to provide the right support to improve attendance and lift achievement. Budget 25 also provided $29.7 million of operating funding to increase structured literacy approach staffing. This investment means more learners will benefit from targeted in-school teaching support to accelerate their literacy progress.
