34931 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: On what date, if any, did the School Lunch Collective, lead by Compass, begin using offal in their school lunch meals?
Hon David Seymour: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that the School Lunch Collective (SLC) has recently engaged an additional mincemeat supplier to meet the required volumes for the Term 3 menu.
The meals containing the mince trim/heart blend is routinely used across the food industry and will be in circulation later in the term, once the stockpile of these meals have been eaten.
I do not know the date meal preparation started for the Term 3 meals. The SLC is not required to inform my office or the Ministry on changes to food composition or ingredients, provided they continue to meet nutrition standards.
