34930 (2025). Hūhana Lyndon to the Minister for Land Information: What reason, if any, did the Minister have to decline the proposal to change the name from Russell to Kororāreka, and what advice did he base his decision off, listed by title and date?

Hon Chris Penk: Several different arguments were made for either option, and I considered a range of factors when making my decision. Given the split in public opinion on the matter I did not find an overwhelming case for change had been made, and I decided that retaining the status quo would be appropriate. I refer the member to my response to WPQ 28013 (2025) for the list of advice I have received on this subject.
