34928 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What is the estimated capital cost of the Katikati Bypass, which asset sales are proposed to fund it, and by what date is it expected to be delivered?

Hon Chris Bishop: NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) has advised me there is no current estimated capital cost or delivery date for the Katikati Bypass. The Western Bay of Plenty Deal includes an initiative for the Western Bay of Plenty Sub Region to investigate an asset recycling programme which could attract a Crown uplift to fund projects to improve productivity and freight efficiency along State Highway 2, including the Katikati Bypass. The deal is a 10-year partnership agreement.
