Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: What is the estimated number of people experiencing homelessness in Wellington, according to the June 2025 Homelessness Insights Report, including any breakdowns by type of homelessness and any comparison to the previous report?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Homelessness Insights Report notes that Downtown Community Ministry in Wellington detailed that for the January to March 2025 period, 328 people were recorded as homeless, a 5 percent increase on the same period a year prior (312 people). The report includes a map of Aotearoa New Zealand depicting 2023 Census Severe Housing Deprivation estimates of those living without shelter. The Wellington City estimate of the number of people living without shelter was 87 for 2023.
