34777 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Why was Let’s Get Wellington Moving an underpinning factor in Kāinga Ora’s decision to purchase two sites in Adelaide Road, Wellington to build state housing and how did the dissolution of Let’s Get Wellington Moving affect feasibility of these two projects?
Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised by Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities that 28 Adelaide Road was purchased as part of the Kāinga Ora Land Programme, as the site linked in with the proposed Let’s Get Wellington Moving public transport corridor.
The site was not earmarked for social housing delivery. The Kāinga Ora Land Programme was wound down as part of the Kāinga Ora turnaround plan announced on 4 February 2025.
The dissolution of Let’s Get Wellington Moving has not affected the feasibility of the public housing redevelopment project at 132 Adelaide Road.
