34772 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many proposals, if any, did his officials receive from community housing providers for funding to build new social housing in the past year and for each such proposal what provider made the proposal, how many houses were to be built and did his officials approve funding for the proposal?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) receives a substantial number of applications from Community Housing Providers (CHPs), many of which do not progress towards consideration for approval due to failing to meet funding criteria. I further understand that many other proposals are under active consideration with refinements being discussed and for which no final decision is as yet recorded. I have provided a table supplied by HUD of CHP social housing project approvals over the 2024/25 financial year.
