34734 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: What public engagement surveys, if any, are planned or currently underway regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that no public engagement surveys regarding the use of artificial intelligence are planned or currently underway by the Ministry of Education, the Education Review Office or the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. Education New Zealand has several broader research programmes underway involving international students. There are two surveys which seek to understand the information sources and tools students use when researching study destinations. This may include the use of artificial intelligence tools; however, this is not the primary focus of either survey.
