34378 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What process, if any, was followed to identify, assess, and select Lana Stockman, Steve Haszard, and Murdo Beattie for appointment to the NZTA board?

Hon Chris Bishop: The appointment process included advertising for the position, seeking nominations, interviews, candidate due diligence (including referee and background checks, and conflicts of interest analysis), statutory consultation as per section 98(2) of the Land Transport Management Act 2003, Ministerial consultation and consideration by Cabinet's Appointments and Honours Committee and Cabinet. The NZTA Board Chair was also consulted during the process, including participating in interviews.
