34295 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Associate Minister of Transport: How, if at all, is AI profiling and/or facial recognition used in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Hon James Meager: I am advised that AI profiling and facial recognition is not used by the Civil Aviation Authority, Maritime NZ and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission to deliver their functions. Facial recognition is used in some cases to unlock work-issued Apple mobile devices and Windows laptops or tablets.
