34243 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister of Education: Have the 64 self-supplying schools noted in the 'Rapid Response...' briefing as "most in need of more reliably safe drinking water" received full upgrades to their supplies as planned to be completed by June 2026?
Hon Erica Stanford: The talking points in the Rapid Response contained an error. The statement “the 64 self-supplying schools that most in need of more reliably safe drinking water will have received full upgrades to their supplies by June” should have stated “the 64 self-supplying schools that most in need of more reliably safe drinking water will have received immediate repairs to their supplies by June”. This information was represented correctly in my 8 June Press Release. I am advised by the Ministry that as at 31 July 2026, 61 of the 64 schools have had initial immediate repairs completed, as agreed with the Water Services Authority | Taumata Arowai. The Safer Drinking Water for Schools programme is still active in the remaining three schools. Full upgrades are scheduled for completion this financial year.
